Review / Comments: I had never heard of this book until I noticed it on a on a list of Corvair Literature given out to new members by the Tidewater Corvair Club.  Dan Jones of the TCC explains:

"The Corvair Guide contains a great wealth of old-style hot rodding with information about the Judson and Fitch modifications.  The book has a picture of a Devin C and the EMPI kit cars as well as of the Eelco Parts.  I wouldn't rate it as a 'must have,' but there's enough information here that if you do find one, buy it and read it."
Joe White of Boulder, Colorado says that the book is:
"An excellent, small glossy paperback written while Corvairs were still available new.  The book enthusiastically describes Corvairs, particularly the early models, with an emphasis on modifications to improve daily usability and performance.

"What makes this book special, though, is that it devotes individual chapters to the modifications made by the Corvair specialists of that time: Fitch, Thomas, and Corey.  In these chapters, the Corvair specialists explain in detail what they have done to make the Corvair perform better and how they transformed the cars into true GT and sports cars.

"Also, of interest is a chapter devoted to supercharging the Corvair engine describing both belt-driven and exhaust-driven superchargers."
Finally, it should be noted that the book’s Corvair content is almost entirely devoted to Early Model Corvairs.  It would seem that, due to the book’s publication date of early 1965, the information on the Late Models was thrown in at the last possible moment in order to extend the book's "shelf life".
