Description: William Wynne's Corvair Conversion Manual is the bible of Corvair engine conversions for use in aircraft.  The book guides readers through selection and purchase of core motors as well as the steps involved in engine conversion and the installation of the engine in an aircraft.

Review / Comments: This book is included in The Ideal Library under the theory that people who use Corvair engines to power experimental aircraft need them to perform "as if their lives depended on it".

The websites associated with Corvair-powered aircraft are fascinating studies in engine-rebuilding.  William Wynne's site, www.FlyCorvair.com, contains extensive information on the subject.  It also contains a link to a fascinating photographic essay on a complete rebuild of a Corvair engine for use in an airplane.

Notwithstanding the above, this is a relatively expensive book (i.e., $49.95 from Corvair Underground or $59.95 directly from the publisher).  This book would seem to be appropriate, therefore, only for people interested in actually flying under Corvair power or interested in owning every book published on Corvairs.
