Review / Comments: Better than both Chilton's and Clymer's, but still no match for the Shop Manuals. In fact, nearly 100% of this book's content is derived from the original Chevrolet Shop Manuals. The only real difference is that the photographs in the Shop Manual have all been converted to line drawings and the information concerning "Special Tools Required" (at the end of many sections in the Shop Manual) has been removed. I suppose that when the book was first published in 1972, if a Corvair owner didn't know where to go to order a copy of the Shop Manual, this would have been a decent alternative. However, with excellent reprints of the Shop Manuals available from the vendors, this book should only be of interest to collectors of Corvair literature. |
